Machine learning in concrete science: Applications, challenges, and best practices AUTHORS: Z. Li et al. REFERENCE: npj Computational Materials 8, 127 (2022) SYNOPSIS: We provide an extensive bibliographic analysis of peer-reviewed publications in concrete science and describe the status and most compelling applications of machine learning (ML) in this field. We discuss recurring methodological challenges found in the literature in terms of data preparation, model validation, and model interpretation, and we conclude by providing best practice recommendations and outlining future directions for ML-based concrete research. |
